Preserving the Historical Beauty of the French Quarter

An Idyllic Neighborhood in A Historical City

Our Initiatives.

Each Quarter, we have at least one neighborhood clean-up day. Throughout the year, we also have members who will remove graffiti, report on gas lamp outages on Chalmers, assist the City in properly supporting the homeless, clear storm drains and more. Our neighbors take care of these streets.

Our Events.

Once a year, we enjoy a Holiday cocktail gathering at one of our member restaurants. But why stop there? Sometimes we will have other reasons to gather more socially.

Our Businesses.

The French Quarter is at the heart of the monthly First Friday Art Gallery tours. And if you live here, you know you barely need a car to access just about anything you need for home or family. We rely on our businesses to partner with us in support of our efforts to keep the neighborhood a welcoming, historic space.

Livable.

For such a small area, we have a diverse set of residences. From the oldest home in Charleston (The Pink House) to very new condos, the French Quarter has seen responsible development allow a representation of every generation of Charleston residential history to be on display.

Walk it - with your pet.

Ours is a very walkable neighborhood - especially with our pet friends. The French Quarter encompasses the best small parks. From Washington Square to Waterfront Park, you can often see our pet owners walking their pets to greener grass. And along the way, many of our local businesses leave out water bowls or treats to help keep our friends happy.

Preserve it.

The French Quarter neighborhood Association was born out of a desire to check destructive development. Since its inception, the FQNA has worked closely with the Historic Charleston Foundation and the Preservation Society of Charleston to preserve the value of our history.
